Turning one with a bang (literally)

Thunderstorms at 6 am in the morning.... Melbourne, your weather is just weird!

The storm meant this guy's first birthday started with loud bangs and lots of rain. We had intentions to keep the day really low key and just go for a play at the park with some friends....unfortunately the threat of more rain meant we had to bring it all indoors.

On the plus side, the moody weather and early wake up made for some beautiful window light  - and for a very curious boy.

I would love birthday morning pj photoshots to become a family tradition.

Happy first birthday little guy!

Our new family member

A little while ago we got a new member in the family. She's a 1970 Honda CL100 (all our vehicles have genders and names, that's perfectly normal right?)

I'm still not quite sure how I got talked into getting a new bike, especially with a new baby in the house. I guess we've got to keep the human-to-bike ratio consistent??

I think it helped that it's all for a good cause, the Scrapheap adventure ride. The challenge is to buy a bike for under a $1000, make it 'rideable' and meet up with a bunch of other riders from around the country to raise money for people with down syndrome.

The CL 100 definitely met the criteria. It had been neglected for a long time and wasn't running when we found her, but with a bit of work is going pretty well now. As you'll see below, she's a well traveled bike and has even spent some time in PNG.

Anyone seen my little fluff ball?

It seems like she's transformed overnight from a little golden fluff ball....

How cute are these two

I had the absolute privilege of photographing this gorgeous pair and their family dogs a little while ago. It's something a bit different for me but they made it easy and a whole heap of fun.

In heartbreaking news, not long after the photo shoot both dogs passed away (within a couple of weeks of each other). I'm so glad we got the chance to get these shots when we did.

I got some good news this week, then did something pretty stupid

I found out that my photo of the camels on Cable Beach was going to be included in a new series that 'The Wandering Lens' photographer Lisa Michele Burns was running on her website. Not only that, but my photo was going to be the feature image for the first post. Yep, I'm just a little bit excited!

The is one of my favourite photos and I'm planning to get it printed BIG. I just need to convince Rupert to build me a frame for it. In case you missed it in the earlier post on Kimberley beaches, here it is.
